Black Magic explores the deeply rooted magic that connects Black identities across continents, cultures, and codes. These works tap into a legacy and language that reimagines Blackness absent of the negative connotations often imposed upon it. This language involves a system of codes and icons that when activated, provide access to incredible beauty, power, strength, and self-reliance. The works invite and reflect renewed interests in African spirituality and ideology while divorcing Black identity from the limited and polarizing lens of the white gaze.
